Bill 96
Bill 96 is a Québec law passed on May 24, 2022, and it officially became law on June 1, 2022. It strengthens French as the main language of work and daily life. Some rules started right away, while others were added gradually, with major enforcement changes taking effect on June 1, 2025. The law requires businesses to use French in contracts, communication, and services. It also applies to companies with 25 or more employees, which must follow francization rules. Overall, Bill 96 ensures French is the default language in workplaces across Québec.
